Live Sketchbook Time-Lapse Drawings

It looks like it's been two years since I posted here. It doesn't seem like its been that long! Here are two drawing videos I made based on the Mothman creature legend. Why did I decide to draw this? I saw a fascinating documentary about it in 2017 and thought it was a great idea for some artwork. In addition to the drawings you see in the videos, I have pages full of EVEN MORE mothman sketches saved on my hard drive. I'll post those here soon.

Here are the final pieces.

The Exile

UPDATE: February 25th, 2018

I'm finally done with my first personal project! This is a monumental achievement for me and a major milestone. This creature sculpt is called "The Exile" and I began it on December 23rd, 2016. It began as a casual three-hour sculpt but I was having so much fun it turned into a full-fledged character.

I struggled a lot but learned a lot of lessons as I built the master scene file. Slowly, I implemented each of the different character elements like the belt, the loincloth, and the dagger. ZBrush was also giving me some trouble which made it very difficult to make progress. My files would get corrupted after adding hair from Fibermesh. I still haven't found a solution to this. The skin shader and hair in VRay was taking unbelievably long to render.

I'm happy to have this project off my plate and I'm looking forward to having more freedom with my work. I'm trying to commit to small scale projects going forward. These things easily grow out of control and I tend obsess over one project. This is terrible for my work/life balance and it prevents me from having more variety in my portfolio.
